Know what
belongs in the page.
Keep a short record beside the story plan. It should tell you where a reference came from, what permission you have and which output it contributed to.
Start with the material, not the finished image
For every reference or supplied element, record a useful name, its creator or source, the date obtained and the terms that cover the intended use. If you made it yourself, keep the original file. If another person permitted its use, keep the permission and any conditions about attribution, editing or distribution.
Public visibility is not the same as permission. A Community cover or panel can be visible to readers without being available for you to reproduce in another comic, gallery or promotional image. This notebook uses original abstract diagrams rather than copying other creators’ panels.
A record with five useful fields
- Material
- A name or file reference you can recognise later.
- Origin
- Who made it and where you obtained it.
- Permission
- The licence or consent that covers your planned use.
- Contribution
- The character, draft or output in which it appears.
- Distribution
- Where you intend to publish and which conditions still apply.
Keep sensitive personal information out of public notes. A private evidence file and a public credit line can serve different purposes. Do not upload a private reference or another person’s likeness simply because a tool accepts the file.
Read output terms with their limits
The OurDream terms recorded in the source material distinguish generations elicited by a user from other users’ characters and content. They also contain restrictions on automated extraction. A provision about your own generated outputs does not give you ownership of somebody else’s Community work.
Applicable model licences and rights in input material still matter. Contract wording about a generated output also does not establish exclusive copyright in every jurisdiction or guarantee that a particular publication is permitted. For a use that needs legal certainty, obtain advice specific to the material and location.
Before sharing, compare the final output with your record. Add any references introduced during revisions and keep a copy of the terms relevant to your decision. The creation checklist can remind you to do this, while the record itself stays under your control.
